Barbie vs ZhuZhu pet

I posted a video a while ago of Mittens eyeing off my remote control car, and some of my readers suggested I get her a hamster to play with.

I found one in one of those cheap reject stores, and Mittens wasn't interested in playing with it at all. In fact when it headed towards her she leapt out of the way like she was scared of it.

Barbie liked it though. This is Barbie's first introduction to the Zhu Zhu pet.

Oh, I'm laughing! The first year those came out, they were impossible to find around Christmas time. We had a niece and a couple of my husband's young brothers and sisters who wanted them, and we found them at a store late one night, so got as many as we could. We ended up with an extra one that we kept. I put in on the kitchen floor for Bunny to play with, and we made a video, too! It was hilarious. Bunny wasn't sure what to make of it at all. Lilac ended up snagging it first and running off with it! Those things are great entertainment for dogs, as long as you take them away as soon as they're caught!

Oh Lilac, how cute! I can see their appeal to kids too, they still advertise them here during morning TV 'like real pets without the mess' hahah

I love how she gently picks it up. What a silly puppy. I'll have to look into one of those for my Luna.

She is very gentle when she first picks up most toys.... or other things she is not meant to have (she loves shoes and hairbrushes). She has picked so many different things up in that adorable way and I still laugh every time ;)
HA! HA! HA! Oh - I love it!!! Hilarious!! (I loved it when you laughed too - it's so nice to get honest, spontaneous reactions from the humans on video too! :-) ) - ooh, you're making me want to try one out on Honey too! I must go and check out our local $2 store to see if they have something similar!

ps. by the way, I answered your Retrodoodle question on Honey's blog!

Maybe Muesli would like something like that too? Mittens has kind of grown out of playing with everything that moves (she is 3 now) but Muesli is still young ;)
Barbie might be a good mouse dog :D

hahah I don't think Barbie will ever get to see a real mouse, the champion mouser of the house (Froufrou) will see to that! ;)
Lovely video. She looks so pleased with herself when she takes it back to her bed to investigate it properly.

Love and licks, Winnie

yes, you are right Winnie, very pleased with herself - though I think she was a bit confused by why it didn't turn itself back to being the right way up.... and she was very interested when it kept talking to her!

Yay, Barbie! She bagged her first ZhuZhu. Abby, having a strong prey drive herself, is both filled with admiration and pea green with envy. Our cousin Pretty Girl has three kitteh siblings, and none of them cared about the ZhuZhu critters, either. They prefer the real deal and are champion rodent killers.

Ha ha ha! Oh Barbie you are hilarious! Didn't take you long to carry off that rodent! BOL! Even if the ZhuZhu gets destroyed the same day, it was worth it. Too funny! :D

Waggin at ya,
Roo
I introduced my dogs to a wind up toy. Three of them watched with disinterest and my Chihuahua/linebacker move in for the kill. Three shakes and it was dead.

I love Barbie's more gentle approach.
Barbie would have made a lovely Mother! I hate to think what Frankie or Beryl would do with one of those toys, although I am going to keep an eye out for one just to see if they prove me wrong. Beryl caught a mouse on our walk a few days ago. She actually didn't kill it but let it go in long grass. It wasn't happy though:(
