Greyhounds and Cats

Some friends warned me against getting a Greyhound.

"Your cats will get eaten" they said. I didn't believe them. I'm glad I didn't because Barbie is awesome. She makes my day every day.

Here is her interacting with her friend Frou frou.

Aww! How cute are they? I've only had one of mine who was questionable around cats, but she was easy to correct out of it. I'm glad you didn't listen to the naysayers!

Beryl is supposed to be cat friendly but I haven't got any so it doesn't matter:-) She does know where all the cats live when I take her for a walk around town!! I'm assuming she'd just want to play with them?? Frankie isn't a great lover of cats but I think he'd be trainable. But I'm glad I haven't got a cat, makes life easier! How are your injuries, Jet?

haha funny how they remember where all the other animals live - mine remember cats and other dogs... I can see them looking around for them. Barbie may chase a cat she doesn't know especially if she encounters it outside, but Bender is much more likely to. I remember coming home one day and Bender had trapped an old scarred gross looking tom cat up a tree. He was frantically trying to climb the tree trunk. I had to bring him inside to let the cat get away. I can't imagine Barbie would be interested in that kind of caper.
Reagan might be cat safe... never tested her. Katie is definitely not, but she probably would listen to me now. Riley is definitely NOT cat safe. Loves cats but inappropriately. I think its amazing that there are any cat safe racing greyhounds, but there are tons of them. Its not a rare find at all!

Someone from GAP here guesstimated that it was about 50% but not really sure if that was based on hard numbers.
Yes, it's estimated at about 50% here too, but right now our GAP kennels have got lots of application for cat friendly dogs and mostly non-cat friendly dogs in the kennels! It'll even out:-)
It's really a fun to watch this video...
