Day One of the Avon Descent

Oh, we're in the car again?

We went for a drive out to Toodyay to watch the poor suffering paddlers who took on the race down the Avon/Swan River despite the pathetic water levels. There were no free rides today and I think a lot of the paddlers appreciated the puppies watching them.

We walked along the river for an hour or so, checking out new vantage points...

It was very fun! Barbie had already been to obedience class for an hour, and Bender had been to the river closer to home. By the end of the day the Greyhound was most tired!

No fun when the water is so low! But I'll bet you had some fun anyway!

I'm glad we didn't decide to do it this year. You put in all that training and then it's harder than it ever should be! A lot of the powerboats got knocked out today - a lot of people chose lighter boats to make it easy to portage them but then punched holes in them hitting rocks!
Hi there, we found you on the blog hop! The river looks like a nice place to hang out. Bet those paddlers didn't think so, though, with the water so low. Anyway, sounds like a fun and tiring day for you guys!

Hop, hop, hop....nice adventure but as with everywhere it's been a very warm and dry summer...sigh. Cooler here in the Northeast today...yeah!

Except that it's winter here! Almost the end of winter and the river is almost nonexistent in places. Not much rain at all.
Of course the Greyhound was the most tired! No doubt you interrupted her nap schedule.

That looks pretty cool, though! I haven't been to see anything like that up close, but I'm betting it takes a lot of work!

We sure did. She's tired now even though she spent most of the time we were on the foreshore watching the finish asleep!
Gee, there's not much water there! Power boating would have been a real challenge. Looks like the kids had a great time though. Where are you going today:-)

Oh, and I just noticed your header pic, very nice:-)
thanks! we are going to hang out at Riverside Gardens to watch the finish and enjoy the atmosphere today. There shall be some photos too I hope.
The Greyhound was the most tired, but I guess Barbie had done Obedience training & that can be 'brain straining' !! They look great all ready in the car for a big day ahead!

Yeah she does get very tired at obedience class, though her endurance is improving :) at least she lasts the whole class now
Love Barbie's hanging head photo! Too funny!
The country side is beautiful. Do you have places you can let them off leash to run?

Yeah, there are two dog parks near my house which are fully fenced where I let them run. They can also run down at the dog beach, and at the river near my house. Barbie gets less off leash time at the beach/river because of her tendency to wander off - her recall is good but if we are in a new place she puts her nose to the ground and I have to keep an eye on her. I think she is a Beagle in disguise.
