In the Lap of Luxury

I know we treat our dogs as humans in many ways, and I think they watch us and learn things - like it's comfortable to recline on the couch with a cushion under your head.

Often when I get up to go for work, Bender gets into bed where I have been lying and rests his head on my pillow!

The dogs do have a lot of privileges in this house, but I tend to forget, until I go and visit a house where the dogs stay outside all the time! It is very common in Australia for people to have pet dogs but not really have them a part of their lives. These dogs never get to go for walks, and get bored and sit in their backyards all day and bark.

Well, it's that time of the evening. Time to take the pampered ones on their stroll around the neighbourhood. The devil dog has started to sing to me again.

I know dogs that live in luxury but their owners never do a thing with them. Nothing. I agree with Carrie, not only do I feel for the dogs, but the owners as well. Why have a dog if you don't enjoy and spend time with them?? I'll never get it.
I can't understand why people have dogs if they're not going to enjoy being with them either. What's the point? Plenty of people think I'm a bit strange because my 2 are spoilt but that's their problem.
Oh, I so know what you mean about those kinds of owners! It breaks my heart. Our next-door-neighbours in Brisbane were like that and their 2 Labs used to howl all day coz they were kept in the mud garden all the time and never walked - drove me nuts. And I know everyone is entitled to their opinions & way of life but I really just cannot understand why they bother to have a dog in that case? I mean, isn't it a lot less work just to get a burglar alarm??

I think that he wants to go out for a walk because my dog does the same when he wants to go out. I think that you should be taking him to a long walk eventually that would be good for you also.
